My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jackie is truly a survivor with a will to live, and hopefully many years yet to enjoy.

We learned of Jackie from a firefighter who had rescued her from her home, which had burned down. She survived but her owner did not. Jackie suffered only minimal effects from the fire, related to smoke inhalation.

Upon her arrival at BAARK, Jackie received a full vet check. X-rays of her chest as well as her senior bloodwork. She does have a lingering cough that is being helped by medication. The coughing is probably due to throat irritation from the smoke.

Jackie is a senior Pitbull, thought to be 12-14 years old, just under 60 lbs. With all that she’s been through….losing her home, her dad, and any family she’s known…..she has been doing well, taking everything in stride and adjusting well to her new life. She has quickly come out of her shell and is doing wonderfully with other dogs in her foster home.

Typical of older, larger dogs, Jackie does have osteoarthritis and notable hip dysplasia.

She has received her first injection of Librela, a new injectable medication for management of pain related to osteoarthritis. She also takes oral meds and she’s moving better already!

Jackie is now ready to find her forever person/family. An ideal family for Jackie is one offering a calm, relaxing environment, able to ensure she receives the medication needed to address her osteoarthritis; she is doing so well on it. Jackie would also enjoy a secure, fenced yard, and possibly senior canine friend.

Jackie is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped. Her recent blood work looked great. She is housebroken too!
