My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal.

Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.

Millie's Report Card: A Loving Dog Seeking a Confident Leader

About Millie:

Millie is an affectionate dog, roughly between 1 and 2 years old, and a comfortable weight of 45 lbs.

Millie's Wonderful Traits:

Millie is a dream on walks! She walks well on a leash and isn't one to pull or cause a fuss.  She's also a house-training pro and feels secure and relaxed in her crate. Once Millie feels comfortable, she forms strong bonds with her human companions, showering them with love and loyalty. Millie is adaptable too – she thrived in a foster home with a family for two weeks, including a 7-year-old child.

Things to Keep in Mind:

Millie isn't a fan of feline friends and wouldn't do well in a home with cats. While she can enjoy playtime with a compatible canine companion (she enjoyed playing with a trainer's dog), Millie tends to be more selective when it comes to interacting with other dogs.  She can also be startled by reaching hands, so it's best to let her initiate contact by sniffing your hand first.

The Perfect Match for Millie:

Millie shines brightest with a confident leader who can provide her with exercise, structure, and guidance. This will help her feel secure and prevent any potential nipping behavior.  Millie has occasionally nipped at humans in the past, but this can be managed by respecting her personal space and letting her initiate contact.

Overall, Millie is a fantastic dog with a heart full of love to give. The ideal home for her would be with an experienced owner who can provide her with the love, training, and leadership she needs to blossom into the amazing dog she is!

More about this rescue

We provide adoption services in NY, NJ, CT, RI, NH, and ME.

Last Chance Animal Rescue is a Charitable, not -for profit organization, created to save the lives of animals. We rescue animals that are located in "KILL" facilities and underwrite the costs of relocating them to "NO KILL" facilities in hopes of finding them a forever family. We work with local veterinarians for spay-neuter/ medical services until permanent placement is secured into a pre-screened loving home. We depend on donations to continue to save these helpless loving animals from being killed and hope that you will consider supporting our cause..... saving as many lives as we can.
