My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sabrina!

Hello new friends, my name is Sabrina. I'm a senior gal now, with hypothyroidism, so I'm on a bit of a diet. I'm down to 69 pounds from 91 when i was brought into my foster home in December! With my medicine, I'm feeling a lot better, and it's been a bit easier to lose weight, especially since I love being outside so much! Even when it snows, I love to go out and play in it...the deeper the better in my eyes. I do well with other dogs my size, but I've never been around smaller dogs. But I'm not a big fan of sharing treats with them, so if snacks are a thing in my forever home, please make sure they're given separately. I like to chase the barn cats, but when they run away from me, what do they expect? It makes me want to run, too! I gotta see what's so important that they're moving so fast for. I do well with respectful kiddos that are 5 and older, but since I'm not really a cuddler, they'll have to understand that. They can rub my tummy, though, since that's one of my favorite things! I go potty outside like a good girl, and since I like being outside so much, a fenced yard would be ideal, but if you don't mind being outside either, then I could do without. I just can't be outside without being contained in some form because my hound dog nose will take me on an adventure!

Other than going for walks, I really love to go on car rides! I was hit by a car some time ago, so if I see a car, I bark at it and try to chase it, so forster mom only walks me on trails or in the yard. I don't mind being left home alone, and my foster mom says I don't make a single mess and has left me alone for up to 6 hours. I recently lost my left eye, but don't you worry, my right eye still works like the day I got it! One of my very favorite things is to be with my humans. I really enjoy being by my humans and promise to show my family my love and devotion toward them all the rest of my days! If you are ready to bring a sweet, happy-go-lucky, loyal gal home, you should probably just pick me!

*Sabrina is being fostered in the Delavan, WI area.

Additional adoption info

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue providing compassionate care to special needs, senior, and hospice dogs.

Our adoption process begins with a completed application. From there, we will review references and vet records. The next step is a home visit with your family. This visit may be in person or virtual.  At that point, if approved, we will set up a meet and greet with available dogs.

All dogs have an adoption fee of $275 for a single dog or $500 for (bonded) pair, unless otherwise noted.

Note: Pairs must be adopted at the same time to get the reduced adoption fee.

-Applications with incomplete information will not be processed.
- All current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative.
- All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam.
- None of our dogs will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application and/or the adoption contract. Albert's Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone.
- You must agree that if you are no longer able to keep your rescue dog for whatever reason, the dog will be returned to Albert's Dog Lounge. The adopter must agree to never attempt to sell or rehome the dog at any point.

Our goal is to place our seniors into permanent, loving homes for the rest of their golden years.

More about this rescue

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue focused on providing loving homes to seniors, special needs, and hospice dogs. We help dogs in need from overcrowded shelters and also from local families who are no longer able to care for their pets.

Albert's Dog Lounge was established in 2017 with the vision to be the stepping stone to a new life for those dogs who are less likely to be rescued, adopted, or at a higher risk for euthanasia.
