My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Finn and Gizmo are a bonded pair, and must be adopted together***

Finn & Gizmo are the sweetest pair, and they love each other so much. These young boys are super sweet and playful. They are both 1 year old and believed to be Schnauzer / Jack Russell Terrier mixes. Finn is 20 lbs, and Gizmo is 18 lbs.

Finn and Gizmo were found together as strays in Texas. and brought into a small high kill shelter. The shelter split them up for 2 days, and when split up they both became immediately very timid, scared, and reserved. When they were reunited, they became completely different dogs; so happy and social and friendly.

When Finn and Gizmo arrived to Farfel's Rescue from Houston, we experimented ourselves to make sure that keeping them together was the right choice. It was very clear the these 2 boys thrive being together, and would be not only so sad if separated, but when they are separated they are very timid around people. However together they love everyone!

The following is from Finn & Gizmo's foster:

"These guys are SO fun!!! They really do keep each other occupied, so with these two I would truly say that 2 dogs is easier than 1.

They are very very playful, and love to play with not only each other, but with me and with toys too. They both LOVE rolling in the grass and do this almost every chance they get!

They're definitely young and still puppy-like. I'd say they are high-energy, and they do need to work on knowing what they can chew on and what they cannot chew on! They would thrive with some basic training."

At the shelter that these boys came from in Houston, TX, veterinarians are overwhelmed and overworked with little time to spend on individual cases. Vets noticed a slight limp that Gizmo occasionally shows. After an exam, they shared that he has no pain (and he sure acts like he does not notice it at all!), no wounds and needs no meds but does have a small fracture that had healed over a bit funny. We had Gizmo assessed at our vet once he arrived to Colorado, and they said that since it doesn't bother him at all, that no further action needs to be taken.

Since Finn and Gizmo are is just young guys, they would thrive from basic training. Training also forms firm bonds between you and these boys, and helps them to learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement / force-free virtual or in-person training classes. This training will make a profound difference in a young dog's ultimate adult behavior and in his relationship and bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's is happy to supply a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area.

Finn and Gizmo are fully vetted, vaccinated, and both neutered.

**PLEASE NOTE** Farfel's Rescue makes every effort to place our dogs with families that are excellent matches. We do this through our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com (never through rescue site apps such as Adoptapet or Petfinder as they don't provide enough information).
