We rescued Dewey in November 2018 from the Downey Shelter. We placed him with a nice family who loved him well, and over the years Dewey battled glaucoma in his right eye, which we ultimately removed for his comfort.
Dewey was recetly relinquished back to us when his family felt they could no longer take care of him. Now 15 years old, Dewey is still a sweet, gentle, and polite boy who loves his walks and car rides. He navigates really well, plays with toys, and has lots of pep in his step! He can hear every sound, knows his name, and comes when called.
Dewey went on a two-week Frosted Fling, and his Fling Family provided us with lots of helpful details to help us find his perfect match.
"Dewey is a very happy guy! He is a 'turnkey' dog, meaning no extra work is needed. He is just perfect! He immediately settled into our routine, adapting very quickly to the new environment. He made himself right at home!
Dewey can't see very well, but he doesn't let that stop him at all! He can hear really well and has great 'dog sense.' Within a few days, he could navigate our house, and also go to the park and back very easily!
Dewey is very confident on the leash, and is a good boy to sit when asked. He loves to be with his person/people, and would follow me from room to room. He's okay sleeping in a comfy dog bed next to your bed, but also loves sleeping in the human bed! Dewey loves attention! He was friendly to everyone he met when he came to work with me and always loved the pets from everyone.
Dewey can do hikes longer than 2 miles, but does not need to. He's happy with a nice walk around the park or stroll on the beach. He's playful at times, but overall very chill and loves a comfy doggie bed for a good nap. Dewey gets along great with my dog and my cat. He was anxious at first meeting new dogs at the park, but eventually warmed up.
Dewey is a great eater! He practically galloped back from the park in the mornings and evenings, knowing he would get to eat when we got home. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Dewey. He's absolutely perfect and will make an amazing companion!"
Dewey currently lives in a Foster home as he waits for his forever family. Might it be you?
