My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! Our names are Manny and Millie! We came into rescue when our “Mom” decided that us living in the backyard probably wasn’t good for us.
When we initially came in, one of our offspring, Owen came in with us. Owen was only 1-1/2 years old but on top of untreated demodex mange he had an enlarged heart, small trachea and an advanced case of staph. 8 Days in rescue and Owen went into congestive heart failure, our foster Mom was informed that his prognosis was not good and his quality of life would be very poor for the short amount of time he would have left. We lost our baby boy that night, and we miss him but we still have each other.
Here’s a little about us, and of course ladies go first…

Hi, my name is Millie and I am 4 years old. I’m a beautiful brindle and white girl, and foster Mom says she thinks I have “flat feet”! She calls me her little platypus! But I don’t mind, I like terms of endearment they make me feel good. Even though at my former home I was living in the backyard, grass feels really weird under my feet. I kept going potty on the cement patio, but I’m getting much better at going out into the grass. When I’m done though, I run as fast as I can back to the door to get back into the house. I don’t want anybody to forget that I’m still outside…
I love, love, love people, but I’m still a little afraid that you won’t love me back. When foster Mom goes to pet me I duck, but she talks very nice to me and gives me pets and has been forcing these things called “kisses” on me…I was very afraid of them at first but the more she does it the more it makes me happy. I have a heart murmur, dry eye and a deep tail pocket that must be kept clean.
I was bred w/Manny and we had puppies, but no more since I’ve gotten spayed. I still love my Manny and hope never to be separated from him, we get along great and watch over and take care of each other. Sometimes though…I steal his bed !

Hi, my name is Manny and I am 3 years old. I was put out into the backyard because they said I stunk up the house too bad. Well, of course I did. Turns out I have a severe case of demodex mange (hereditary) which turned into a very bad case of staph. My skin is in really bad shape and my foster Mom has been working for several weeks on it. It’s still pretty bad, and because no one ever took care of it all the infections has caused my immune system to become very weak. I’m on lots of medications, get a special bath every other day and go to see the doctor every 10 days or so. I like the doctor; she gives me lots of treats. I love treats! I love toys, my bed, and all the good food I’ve been getting and to say thank you I give you a hug. Foster Mom tells me I’m one of the most stubborn boy’s she has ever come across; I have no idea what she is talking about…
I’m in rescue with my partner Millie; we get along great and hope never to be separated..although she does get on my nerves a bit when she steals my bed….but I’m a gentleman and I let her have it or I make her scoot over and share!
They tell me I am on a long road to recovery and that lots of people have been pitching in to help me along the way- thank you to everyone I haven’t met but loves me from afar, I love you too !!
