Notes from Hiking Buddy Lacey Bacchus: "I checked out Dexter Curly from Shelby Humane for Hiking Buddies. Dexter got physical & mental exercise and nap with AC after and I checked out Beesweek Creek Park on Lay Lake. Dexter is a big, happy guy - needs yard to run. Good on leash and not reactive to dogs or geese on the lake.

More about this shelter

Shelby Humane is an open intake facility in Shelby County Alabama. SH takes in over 5000 animals a year. We provide an adoption program, low-cost spay/neuter program, and low-cost vaccination and microchip clinics throughout the County. In 2018, we launched Shelby SafePet, which provides veterinary care and boarding to pets of domestic violence victims.
