My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The cutest PomChi is now accepting applications!

Darla is (est) 9 year old, 13 pounds (per vet should lose 3 pounds) little friend. She was turned into the shelter by a Good Samaritan but was never claimed 😕

Darla is up to date on vetting and will have a dental. She does have a mass on her perianal. It has been assessed by 3 different vets and cells sent off to be reviewed. It came back as benign and as a result we opted to not remove the mass. The surgery would be intense and runs the risk of damaging nerves in her back end. She doesn’t bother the mass and at this point it’s her little buddy 😂

Darla absolutely adores people! She loves to meet people, let people hold her, pet her and snuggle with her. She does well with other dogs and sometimes gets a wild hair to play chase. She doesn’t mind cats but has to inspect them first and sometimes cats don’t like that.

All in all Darla is an amazing little dog who would benefit from a family who has time to dedicate to her weight loss and overall well being. She is a Velcro dog so she will be everywhere you are and she will miss you if you’re away for too long. Which means she wants to go on road trips and catch flights with you 😎🚙✈️To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

More about this rescue

Long Way Home was created to provide the last stop for animals displaced from their homes, deemed "unadoptable" by other rescues, or that need a level of care their previous owners or other shelters are unable or unwilling to provide.
