My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Ember! This spicy girl is all large breed dog, according to her DNA. But... she was with another rescue before Save-A-Mutt stepped in to actually provide needed care. She and her siblings were so loaded with parasites that we think it may have permanently stunted their growth. At 16 weeks old she is ONLY 13#. A Pocket Shepherd! We are not sure she will actually grow into her ears. Ha! Oh and her 1% Chesapeake Retriever has determined her coat, it's actually just like a Chesie - not a normal GSD.

But don't let her wee size fool you - she's very much a shepherd. Smart, a little noisy when she's unhappy. She LOVES her foster mom and likes to stay close. We think a home with GSD experience is a plus. Looking for all the Shepard traits, but to the Shepard size, Ember is your girl.

Ember is being fostered with dogs of all sizes, cats (she doesn't really care but they can be fun to chase) and has met kids... she was great, very friendly. She's playful and sweet. Cuddles on the couch in the evening are her new favorite thing. We think her ideal home has other friendly dogs and a place to run and play. She is not an apartment dog.

This puppy is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot!

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.

Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. You must be willing to start socializing and training as soon vaccinations are completed at 16 weeks. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit.

Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood area. This puppy is ready for it's new home!

Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
