My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ophelia! She’s a 3-month-old German Shepherd mix that was pulled from a rural shelter with her four siblings. Some of her siblings look like they have some Husky in them, so Ophelia might as well. But looks-wise, she definitely favors a shepherd.

Ophelia is the friendliest pup of her litter. Some of her sisters were a bit shy at first, but not Ophelia. She was immediately loving on her new foster mom the minute they got home from the shelter. When visitors come over, Ophelia is the first to greet them while her sisters hang back. Overall she’s a very confident, friendly dog. Ophelia’s coat is super soft and she loves to be petted and held. She will crawl right into your lap.  She would do great in a home with other dogs. She plays very well with and is also respectful of the large dogs in her foster home. But she would also be great as an only dog where she gets all the attention.

Ophelia is a very smart girl who runs to her crate when it’s time to eat. She learned sit within a few minutes. She’s really close to being solidly potty trained and is crate trained. She sleeps through the night in her crate. She’s super food and treat motivated, so continued training should be a breeze for her new family.

Ophelia’a foster mom would love for Ophelia and her siblings to go to homes where people understand the importance of daily walks and proper training. A fenced-in yard would also be wonderful. Since they are so young, their foster mom won’t send them anywhere where they need to be crated for more than 3-4 hours a day.

Ophelia currently weighs about 23 lbs at 3 1/2 months of age and will be a large dog when full grown, possibly 60-70 lbs.
