My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ando is a beautiful brown and white Pitbull/Mix looking for his forever family! He's a middle age boy, and once he's at his ideal weight, should weigh around 60lbs. This boy is the total package for a family looking for an easy and loving dog! He is low/medium energy, is dog friendly, and kid friendly. Ando is great in his crate (8-10hr), is perfectly house trained, and knows his basic commands! He's working on his leash skills but is improving quickly. This sweet boy is down for anything - playing, car rides, or just cuddling up by your side. His foster Mom says that he is a little wiggle butt - when meeting new people, or when he's excited, he wiggles his whole body and leans in for love! He also has a snaggle tooth that adds to his already adorable Pittie smile! Ando came to BarkVille Dog Rescue after he was found as a stray and was turned into a rural GA shelter. He was emaciated, full of worms, and needed his tail amputated. He has since been fully vetted, and is continuing to put on weight. It is evident that he lived a very sad and hard life previously, and he deserves nothing but the best for the rest of his days! Ando will make a wonderful addition to any family - he will do great in any household, with or without kids, and/or other dogs. Due to his energy level and temperament, he does not require a fenced yard. Ando is currently going through Heartworm treatment. If you are not familiar with Heartworm disease, dogs get it from mosquitoes and it is not contagious. It is easily prevented & highly treatable, and the treatment requires low activity and rest. Ando is available for Foster to Adopt until his treatment is complete, and an adoption can be finalized. Ando is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. If you're interested in adopting Ando, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.May 3, 2024, 1:59 pm

Additional adoption info

The dogs that we have available for adoption have come from shelters where they were found stray or were given up by their owners. These dogs have been let down by humans in the past and may be suffering from physical ailments or abuse. So, by the time these dogs come into our rescue group they have been thru a lot and need a home that can provide them with structure, guidance, love, patience and time to adjust to their new surroundings. Please understand that as dogs transition from shelter to foster home to forever home there can be set backs along the way and they will need your help to adjust.

All dogs that are adopted from BarkVille are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with all necessary veterinary care. However, owning a pet can be expensive and you must be prepared to provide quality food, monthly heartworm medication, monthly flea and tick medication, yearly shots and routine checkups. In addition, you must prepare for accidents and illnesses that may require expensive treatment or surgeries. Many times our dogs have ended up in shelters because their previous owners were not prepared for these expenses and we want to ensure this never happens to them again.

We strive to know and understand each of our dogs so that we can work to find the best match for each dog and adopter.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application, adoption interview, meet and greet, veterinary reference check, personal reference check and home visit prior to making the adoption final. We reserve the right to deny any application that we feel is not a good fit for any of our dogs for any reason. If you are ready to make a commitment to one of our dogs please complete the adoption application and submit for review. The adoption fees vary based on the age of the animal: Age 7 and up is $300, Between age 7 to 1 year is $350. Puppies under the age of 1 year is $400.

More about this rescue

BarkVille Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit. We envision a world where all dogs reside in responsible, loving homes.

Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment. The dogs are then placed in foster homes while they await placement into their permanent home.

Our goal is to help dogs without regard to age, breed, size, or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.
