My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Anna is a 1 year(ish) Great Pyrenees Mix who was rescued from deplorable living conditions with 4 other dogs. Her rescurer could not keep them all, so she reached out to GRRAND. Anna is very new to GRRAND and we are just learning about her but we do know she is house-trained and gets along well with other dogs.

She will need a secure above ground fenced yard as Great Pyrs love to be in their yard to protect and patrol, and this happens best when they are in a secure space! Great Pyrenees and Goldens have a lot of common traits, but differences as well.  To learn more about differences and similarities, we suggest you research both breeds. This beauty is in a foster home and this is what she has to say:

"Anna is very sweet, gentle and playful. She and my resident dog get along fantastically! They love to run and chase each other in the backyard and wrestle around. She is independent and is perfectly content just laying in the backyard in a shady spot and watching everything going on around her. She will follow me everywhere I go in the house or out in the yard. She seems to like just being in the company of her people. When she is out playing, she will regularly check in and she will also come when called. She doesn't bark much. Anna loves playing with soft and plush toys and bully sticks. She has not shown any resource guarding with dog food, water, toys, spaces, or me. She is not startled by any sounds - even the vacuum cleaner and storms - she does perfectly fine. She is house trained and doesn't get on any furniture (although she is welcome to!). Anna continues to become more confident and opens up more every day.  She doesn't seem to be a snuggler, but is happy just being in the same room. She will seek affection however and likes scratches and rubs. When my alarm goes off in the morning, she comes back into my bedroom and waits next to the bed for me to get up. I find this so endearing! Anna is an absolute delight to have around and whomever adopts her will be very happy :) "!

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
