BIO COMING SOON!

3/3/24 - Um, hi. My name is Bella. I hate to bother you, but I need your help. I’m writing because I need a new home. I really never thought I’d be in this position because I had a home, but my previous human mom got sick. Our sweet neighbor was helping out and took my brother, Oscar, and I in. Unfortunately, mom did not get better, although she is in a better place now. The lady that we were staying with reached out to Yorkie Haven Rescue for help since she had her own dogs, and they were nice enough to take Oscar and me. However, we are not bonded and do not need to be adopted together. Our personalities are quite different.

I’m timid and can be unsure of new people and places. When I first arrived at my foster home, I didn’t even want to eat, but foster mom sweetened the deal with soft food and gradually added in my hard food. It’s not like I can’t stand to lose a few ounces, but that was still nice of her. She also made sure I could eat away from the others so I could relax more.

My fur-brother (from another mother) has already started playing with the resident dog here, but I just stand back and watch. I’m not really interested in playing. We did go to the dog park and I didn’t mind it, but would rather be with my humans. I’m not too picky, I like my foster mom and my foster dad. I don’t mind other dogs either (if they realize that I’m not a rough and tumble kind of gal), but if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t mind a home with maybe 1 other dog that is low-key like myself. It would also be nice if that dog didn’t need a tremendous amount of attention from the humans, because I am in need of someone of my own. I’m very shy when having to meet new people and shake if they want to pet or hold me. So a really laid back home where someone is home a lot with me would really make me gain my faith back.

Foster mom has caught me picking up a soft toy and bringing it to the couch, but I’m very delicate.

I’m still in training on the potty thing. Bringing me outside often would be a plus. That’s where you being home a lot will come in handy. But please understand that I will have accidents. I have been seen getting excited trying to chase a squirrel while we are in the yard. Guess you truly can’t take the terrier out of us. Foster mom takes us on walks and I really enjoy them. But as I mentioned before, I do get scared if anyone approaches and wants to pet me.

I do like sitting next to my people when it’s sofa time and there is a ramp here that I utilize to get up. There are steps here too, but I haven’t conquered those yet. If you don’t have a ramp, I will paw at you to pick me up. However, when you try to pick me up, I will shake a little, but I’m sure that will subside as I am with you longer. I’m not a kisser and get nervous if you are wanting to pet my head. I will bark if someone is at the door, but am not a huge barker. I’m also not that scare of household noises. I know, that surprises me too.

Foster mom can be sneaky. I overheard her saying that I take my medicine when put in my food with a little water just fine. I can’t be mad at her, I obviously need it and she didn’t shove it down my throat. I’m not a big fan of being brushed. It’s still that hand thing. Practice makes perfect and if you continuously tell me what a good baby I am when brushing or petting me, this will break me in very nicely.

I’m sure you know by now that I would not do well with children (any age) around. That’s just too much noise and too much activity for a delicate flower such as myself. Thanks for understanding. And just in case you need me to refresh your memory, I’m an introverted gal that needs an introverted home. I will, of course, love and cherish my new parent(s), but please give me time because I stress easily. So, if you are someone who enjoys a quiet existence and want an additional cute fur companion to join you at your address, I’m told there is an application on this website which is the first step. These people are professionals at this, so I just know I’m going to get the best home ever!!

I appreciate you taking the time read this. Have a nice day!
