Meet Toby, a fluffy and super chunky 4-year-old looking for his forever home! Toby has had a tough journey, spending over a year in the West Valley shelter and then more than 6 months in boarding and training. Despite his past, Toby is a sweet boy who loves to give kisses.
Toby is a bit scared of the outside world, so he would thrive in a home where he can be the only dog for now. He currently gets along with Sadie, another dog in his foster home, but there was an incident where he bit her in the past. This led to him going to boarding and training, where he learned to be more comfortable with other dogs. Toby's foster parent believes he just needs a bit more time and attention to adjust properly.
Toby's foster parent takes him everywhere and the doctor even suggested he could qualify as a service dog due to his excellent demeanor in public. Toby is currently kept separate from other dogs for safety, but he is ready to find a loving family who can give him the patience and understanding he deserves. 2. Ace of Hearts will call you for an interview
3. We'll schedule a private meet and greet or have you attend on of our adoption events
4. We'll schedule a home check (our adoption agreement must be completed in order to schedule the house check to assure that you agree with our contract)
5. If approved, we'll have you do a 3-5 day trial before you commit to adopt (dog will come with all supplies needed)
6. If all goes well, we'll finalize the adoption by giving you an adoption speech and collect the adoption fee (you will return or reimburse us for the supplies)

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters the day they are to be euthanized. Our goal is to help provide animals with a second chance to a happy life and to help reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs. Once rescued, we place our dogs into loving foster homes while they await adoption. We do not keep dogs in kennels. Placing the dogs in foster homes is the first step to rehabilitation, as it allows us to thoroughly evaluate a dog's demeanor and needs enabling us to make the perfect match of dog and permanent owner. We attribute our high rate of successful placement to our foster program. At Ace of Hearts, we do not discriminate against any breed, including those in the bully breed family. Additionally, Ace of Hearts is dedicated to educating the public on how to be responsible pet owners and on the importance of spaying and neutering. We believe the real solution to pet overpopulation is through spaying and neutering pets.
