My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apply online: tinyurl.com/ccapadoptions, Peace Lilly, female, 2 years old, Lynx point Siamese mix, rescued from living in a backyard colony, she has been blind since birth, being fostered indoors, using litter box, her favorite spot is taking an afternoon nap on a kitchen chair, able to maneuver around the house, sweet, loves petting, has the softnest fur, see the video where she is playing with a fish pole toy!

Lily came to us through a feral trapping job. Thankfully, she simply walked into the trap. The trapper noticed she was emaciated and had something wrong with her eyes.
At the spay appointment, when the Dr. examined her eyes she realized Lily has no eyeballs. Apparently she had been eating bugs and found food to stay alive for at least over a year.
As Lily’s foster, I put her in a small cage in the kitchen, the most trafficked area in the house, and made sure the litter box food and water stayed in the exact same spot. I held her a lot and spoke her name over and over. When I wasn’t holding her, I could see how she “watched” every move with her ears. The other cats did a lot of staring. They knew she was different, but couldn’t figure it out.
Eventually, the cage door was opened to allow Lily to roam at will, confident her safety cage was always at the same spot for her safe return. Lots of hiding in those days, but I knew she was exploring as I could hear what she was bumping into.
She is navigating near perfectly. The safety cage has been been closed for some time. Lily knows her name, where to go to eat and where the other cats food is for when she is done with hers. She doesn’t believe in leftovers.
Lily stalks and pounces the house cats. They have learned to look around every corner. When the house cats “have had enough” and start to slap her, Lily starts a wrestling match. There is a lot of yelling, cats run from her with Lily in pursuit. … House cats have moved to the foot of my bed, and Lily sleeps spooned at my belly.
Company is not welcome as for as Lily is concerned. She would probably do best in a quiet household with one or two calm, quiet people, on a schedule doing the same thing at the same time everyday. Putting things in the same place at all times….. Never ever moving furniture.
Friendly to every cat she has met, Lily would probably also enjoy a laid back dog to taunt.

All fosters under the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition: Community Cat Adoption Program are fostered privately through foster homes.  They are spayed/neutered, given age appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped before adoptions are finalized.  SAFCC is a 501c3 non profit, all volunteer organization serving San Antonio and Bexar County, Texas.
