My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Kena, here is my story… I was just a little girl about 8 months old, when I was rescued, July 1, 2015 off a rural road in the country. I was so sick, covered in mange and weak. I went to a foster home and was loved and nursed back to health. Once, I was all better my rescue friends helped me find a family of my very own. Oh, I had the best adopted mom and dad! We did all kinds of things together, went on walks, long drives, played in the pool. We snuggled on the couch, watched movies, you name it, and we did it all. Sadly, my life fell apart this past December, when my dad passed away. He was so sick. I would sit by his side every day. Sometimes, I’d nudge him, so he’d look over at me. When he did, I’d look deep into his eyes. I’d say to myself; “Dad, I hope you know how much I love you”. My heart would smile when he would immediately say, “I love you my sweet baby, Kena”. We didn’t need words to communicate. We just knew what each other was thinking. God, I miss him. My mom isn’t doing well since dad passed. She can’t manage by herself, she needs help and to be close to her human children which are 2, 747 miles away. So, mom sat me down and explained things to me. She was crying when she told me that she has to move far away and that I can’t go with her, because the place she is moving to doesn’t accept fur babies like me. Her heart was breaking as was mine at that moment. I thought to myself, what’s going to happen to me, who would want an old gal like me. Mom held me tight and said that she is reaching out to my friends who rescued me when I was younger. So, here we are. Let’s see, I’m 9 years old and still active. I could stand to lose a few pounds, we didn’t get out much once dad got sick. Otherwise, I’m in good health. I have a few grey hairs popping up here and there. I love humans and love when visitors come over. I like to run and frolic with other dogs. I am a well-mannered girl and obey my humans. I get excited when I get to go for a car ride. I would love to start back up walking again, that was one of my favorite things. I’m a snuggle bug and affectionate; however, I’m not needy like a little puppy, who by the way needs lots of training, (I’m just saying). I’m looking for a companion, who is still active and wants to enjoy life together. So, if you’re ready for a committed partner to knock out your bucket list with, then I’m in! If you are interested in meeting or wanting to know more about me, please submit an adoption application and we will be happy to reach out to you.
