My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Cornelia was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement Team on 2/13/2024.

At SDHS:
Cornelia is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Cornelia! She was initially a little shy in our care, but she's been a good girl with us and she's shown an eagerness to trust and learn. She spent some time in a foster home, and she did great there, getting along well (chasing and playing) with the foster's resident dog. Foster reports also that after about 3 days, she became very cuddly. Cornelia knows 'sit', hinting at her potential for further training. Because of her initial shyness, we are recommending she go to a home with no young kids (under 10). In a patient understanding home, she is sure to become a loyal and loving companion. If you would like to meet Cornelia, grab a leash and collar and head to our Escondido Campus.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
