My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Anchovy aka "The Choves is a 2 year old spayed female Blue Staffordshire Terrier looking for a
lifelong cuddle buddy and best friend!
She got her name after being found curled up outside the employee entrance of an Incredible Pizza, snacking on the leftover pizza scraps that workers would leave out for her.
Chovie is an energetic, extremely affectionate goofball that is VERY toy motivated, but would be just as happy giving hugs and begging for belly scratches all day. She is very intelligent (already knows the commands "sit, "lay down, "stay, and "come) and is 100% house-trained! We are currently working on crate training and walking with a gentle leader, but she is making great progress!
Since Chovie is still young, strong, and forgets how big she is sometimes, she would do better
in a home with older children and/or adults. She is not dog aggressive, but can be reactive to
other dogs that are aggressive towards her; therefore, she would probably do best in a home
without other dogs, or extremely calm ones on the larger side. She does have a higher prey
drive, so a home without cats, rodents, or other small critters would be the best place for her.
Anchovy is a beautiful girl whose silly faces/poses will keep you constantly entertained and, if
given the chance, will undoubtedly melt your heart. Please give this gorgeous, affectionate girl a visit so that she can find the loving home that she deserves!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
