Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maya came to SSBR in 2022…. She bounced around multiple foster homes and received very little adoption attention. Last Feb 2023 she moved over to a foster who we did hope would have been her forever home. Sadly almost 2 years of being with SSBR she still is not home…. 😭 the sad reality is that here we are in 2024 and the ability to help pitbulls whether it be finding fosters or adopters is next to impossible. With the rage for Frenchies, doodles, labs etc. pitbull type dogs have the highest need to be rescued but the lowest available help. It’s truly heartbreaking. SSBR loves the underdog and we love to help our Pitty friends but with only a handful of fosters willing to take them in and low adoption rates with them we can only pull them as fast as they get adopted. So with that said here we are 2 years later… still searching for Maya her forever family. 💔 #missionfindmayaahome
“We have been fostering Maya since Feb 2023. She is very sweet and a great house dog (she is very respectful about things in the house and doesn't chew/damage anything). Very friendly with all people and kids. Maya was the only pet in the house for the entirety of her stay with us. She is fully housebroken and responds well to training for setting boundaries. She loves to be around her people and is a cuddle bug. Loves car rides. She also did great living with our long term toddler guest.
She has been fostered with other dogs and cats in the past. But my observation is that a careful introduction may be necessary with other animals. We have been training her with training collars and she has shown a lot of improvement in the past few months. She requires continued training and management on leash walking. She is crate trained. She is spayed, vetted, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
She will come with everything we got for her including a large crate, multiple beds, leashes, harnesses, toys, food/treats, few months supply of heartworm/flea/tick prevention medication, bowls, training aids, sweaters etc.
