My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet SWEETS! She:
Is a Pitbull mix
Is 3 years old
Weighs 60 pounds
Is fine with other dogs, but would enjoy being an only fur child
Is medium energy
Walks well in a harness
Is potty trained
Rides well in the car

About:
Sweets is like her namesake and more. Especially when she uses her big, chocolate colored puppy dog eyes, a technique she has mastered. Don’t be surprised if she uses it to elongate one-on-one time, for treats or to get belly rubs – her favorite. She certainly enjoys the attention of any person that can dish affection, though Sweets herself is not stingy! She adores cuddle time and may give you a paw or two to remind you how important affection and quality time is to her. Being such a snuggle bug, anyone looking for a couch companion that is also lively in spirit and plenty of fun will fall in love. Oftentimes, Sweets is ecstatic to meet new dogs but in the end, prefers to be your one and only treat. Find your sweet tooth again, with this loyal and lovely gal.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
