My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Eil! Eli is a sweet little dog who was found himself in an overcrowded, high-kill shelter and showed that he is the sweetest boy.

Eli is believed to be a Rat Terrier / Chihuahua mix. He is around 3 years old, and just 14 lbs.

From Eli's foster mom:
"What a sweet little dog!! He is so happy and wiggly and friendly. What a gem!
He is settling in great and is a great dog.
He is also potty trained!"

We envision Eli with either an active, dog-crazy retired couple or individual, or younger family that works from a home. We feel that Eli is too social a guy to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home.

Being a young and super-smart guy, Eli will love physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement / force- free group obedience classes. These classes are so important in bonding as well as teaching a dog the skills (in a very positive way) to understand boundaries and commands. This creates a well-behaved partner out in the community. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area.

Eli has been fully vetted and is up to date on his vaccines. He is neutered as well.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
