Paws

Hi there, lovely humans! My name is Tiffany, and I'm here to steal your heart with my sweet and loving personality.

I may be small, weighing in at just 9 lbs, but my heart is as big as can be! I absolutely adore being held and cuddled, and I could spend hours sitting on your lap or snuggled up next to you. Belly rubs? Oh, they're my absolute favorite! Just give me some pets, and I'll be your best friend forever.

At home, I get along great with my furry siblings, both resident pups and other foster friends. I haven't met a pup I don't like.  I'm still working on being comfortable when left alone, so I might get a little vocal, but I'm making progress every day!  I let my foster mom know I don't like it when she leaves but it doesn't take long and I lay down and take a nap.  My ideal forever home is with someone that is home a lot so I don't get worried.   I think it would be fun having some human siblings that want to play with me.  I am very gentle and love everyone.

When it comes to treats, I'm not too picky—I'll gobble up anything you give me! But my favorite thing in the world? Being held close and showered with love.

As for potty training, well, let's just say I'm still figuring it out but I have made huge progress with going potty outside.  I sometimes even go to the door and let me foster mom know I have to go potty.  I hate to say it but I still sometimes use potty pads, but my foster mom is helping me learn to go outside like a big girl.  And speaking of learning, I've made some huge strides with crate training! Eating in my kennel used to freak me out, but now I'm starting to feel more comfortable.  In fact at meal time I run to my kennel as fast as I can.  I love meal time!!.  I have also learned how nice and relaxing it can be to take naps in my kennel.

My foster mom is happy to report I am doing great at leash training.  I really enjoy going for walks with my other furry friends.  I especially love it when we see other pups on our walks.  I want to play with everyone!

My foster mom thinks I don't hear as well as I should.  I only hear very loud noises. Having a home with another pup would be helpful for me.  I learn so much more from watching them.

Overall, I'm just a sweet, cute, and loving girl who's ready to find her forever family. With a little patience and a whole lot of love, I know I'll fit right in. So what do you say? Are you ready to welcome a precious pup like me into your home?

Love and tail wags,

Tiffany

*Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.

Additional adoption info

Step one is making sure you read through all of the information provided at https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ and on our FAQ’s page before applying.

Step two begins after your application has been submitted. Our coordinators will review your application to ensure that you and the pet you are applying for is a good match. The application is where you get to tell us about yourself! Please answer the questions thoroughly. We look at all of the details and then weigh those details with what we know the dogs need. For example, many of our dogs come from commercial breeding facilities. Some of those dogs have a little trouble adjusting to life in a new home, so they require another dog to teach them “how to be a dog”. Not all of our dogs have this need, but some do, and that’s something we will take into consideration.

You will receive a response from us, via email, within 1-3 business days.

*Please note, puppy applications require one week review time and payment of the application fee.

If you are considering adopting one of our pets, keep in mind that we have several policies regarding placement.

We only adopt to homes within 60 miles of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Only on a case by case basis do we place female dogs in homes with current female dogs.
We will not place our pets in homes with unaltered animals.
We have a strict NO DECLAW policy, where adopters must agree to never declaw adopted cats. For more information on declawing and its alternatives, please visit www.declawing.com
We have a lifetime commitment to our animals, all adopters must agree to return their pets to us if placement is not deemed successful.
We strongly encourage continued socialization and formal obedience training for all dogs under the age of eight.
If you have children younger than 5 years, and do not already have a canine in your home, understand that adding a dog or cat will be like adding a permanent 2 year old to your responsibilities. For this reason, we will only place our pets in homes with children younger than 5 on a case-by-case basis. Keep in mind that completing an adoption contract means you understand that all adoption fees are non-refundable.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our dogs are available to meet at our adoption events. As fosters RSVP to events, we will update the dog’s profile to reflect those events. However, sometimes “life happens” and fosters are unable to make it, or unable to RSVP ahead of time. We recommend attending events and meeting our pets to find the right one to match your home and lifestyle.

If you are serious about an individual pet on our website, please read about our Adoption Process, and complete an application. Upon approval, a private meet and greet may be scheduled.

We do not schedule private meetings until you have applied and been approved to meet the individual pet.
