My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I have more videos on the rescue website!

My name is Pepper. I weigh 7 lbs. (2/16). I am one in a litter of three. We were born around November 15. We are fostered in Mount Airy, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. Our mom weighed 7 pounds and our dad weighed 10 pounds. They were both family pets with great dispositions. We all have long bodies and short legs. We are not considered hypoallergenic or non-shedding since we are mixed breed puppies. We are well socialized and very loving. We love being held and petted, and we always greet our foster mom at the door with wagging tails and lots of kisses. We love to play with toys and with each other. We do like to chew on fingers and toes so we definitely need some training in this area. We have a medium energy level. We are working on house training. We sleep in a crate every night and we have learned not to potty in our crate. As soon as our crate door is opened every morning we run straight to the door to go outside and potty. We are good with the other dogs and love to play with them. I am the boldest of the three and the first to try anything new. I love to snooze in my foster’s lap! We provide hours of entertainment to our foster mom just watching us play. We are pretty typical puppies - we eat, sleep, play, and then start all over again. We have so much love to give and we are ready to go to our new forever homes! We will not be adopted in to homes with small children because we are so small.

We are up-to-date on our puppy shots and we have been dewormed. We have already had a check up by the veterinarian. Our records will accompany us to our new homes.

Email is the best method of contact . Adoption applications can be found on our rescue website Carolinacaninerescuenc.com

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do require an adoption application and an adoption contract, which can be found on our website at carolinacaninerescuenc.com Adoption fees vary. You must be at least 20 years of age to apply. You must have a vet reference for current or previous pets and/or have 2 good personal references (if you don't have a vet reference).
(PHONE CALLS WILL NOT BE RETURNED UNLESS YOUR APPLICATION HAS ALREADY BEEN APPROVED!)

All of our available pets are rescued from NC and VA where the county animal shelters euthanize up to 100% of the animals. Many of the southern county shelters still euthanize with the gas chamber and by heart stick.

Each of our pets are quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks before going to their new home to ensure health. Each pet is checked by our veterinarian and receives a certificate of health for travel and is micro-chipped. All pets are given their age appropriate vaccinations and are dewormed. Pets over 6 months of age are sterilized and heartworm checked. Veterinary records accompany each pet. (Our pets may be posted in more than one location in an effort to maximize exposure so we can get these fur babies adopted to make room for those pets waiting to be saved!) If for some reason your adoption isn't working out within the first 2 weeks, our rescue will take the pet back and refund your adoption fee. (We do make every effort to make sure the pet is a good match for your home before leaving the rescue, including speaking with the foster and watching their videos on our YouTube channel CCR923.) All of our pets are in foster homes. We do not have a facility.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Pets are fostered in North Carolina. We adopt anywhere in the United States and Canada. We have affordable transportation available to most northeastern states. We also have a private driver that delivers to your door. Adopted pets are delivered in less than 24 hours once leaving our rescue! Adopters are also welcome to drive down to pick their new family members up if preferred. For our pets to be flown they must be in the cabin with someone.

More about this rescue

We are a small, nonprofit group based in North Carolina. We rely only on our adoption fees to survive. We have been rescuing, vetting, and rehabilitating dogs and puppies since 2009. We take in dogs and puppies from our county kill shelter, as well as, abandoned and injured dogs and puppies, regardless of their age or any health issues. We do not turn any away due to health issues. We have taken in dogs with heartworms, mange, physical handicaps, injuries, severe malnutrition, etc. You name it, we've probably seen it! We get these pooches back to good health then begin our search for just the right home for this pet! One advantage we have over other rescues is that two of our volunteers are in wheelchairs, so many of our pooches are already used to being around individuals with special needs!

We also help individuals in our community rehome their pets if needed. When an individual agrees to allow us to rehome their puppies, we spay their mother dog for them free of charge.

We also offer low cost spay neuter transport service locally. We also recommend local and out of state spay neuter voucher programs as needed.
