My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at this eye candy! No doubt Pax turns heads but there is much more to him than just looks. He is also a goofy boy with love in his heart. He is smart and very willing to listen to and learn from experienced people that know how to help and guide him. Pax is clueless about some things like personal space and certain house manners but really good about other such as house training and taking breaks in his crate.

Pax is basically looking to make friends with everyone when introduced right but can be reactive at first meeting because he is insecure. Once settled he is a giant love bug.

He is an 8-month-old (as of the beginning of February) long-haired German shepherd.

Pax does well with small dogs but lively, big dogs are a bit much for him. He is great with cats and kids.
What brought him into our rescue was that the owners couldn't afford to pay the medical bill when Pax swallowed a towel and it had to be removed surgically. It is important that he is given enriching activities in his new home such as sniff walks and appropriate games, and we highly recommend dog sports such as Nose Work, Barn Hunt, and Rally. He came to us very thin and with little muscle tone, but he is already starting to gain both weight and strength; continued basic physical activity is a must together with proper diet.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Since we are a foster based rescue and don’t have a shelter all meet and greets must be scheduled and walk-ins are not an option. We will travel throughout the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas/states if that means the dog will find their forever home! When we host adoption/community events we will always post them on our Facebook Page Northern Star Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue

We are Northern Star Dog Rescue, a completely foster based non profit dog rescue! We specifically pull all of our dogs from the euthanasia list (most are there due to no fault of their own) and dogs that are homeless or in bad housing conditions. We take them in and place them in foster homes until we can find them their forever homes! We do what we do because our team has a STRONG love for animals especially those that are in dire situations.
