My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Boerne, Texas
DOB: 08/29/2022 (Estimate)

Ebony is a silly yet graceful beauty, who was found as a stray during the cold, depths of winter. She is on a quest to find warmth and love with a forever family of her very own. She is a stunning beauty who can initially be timid and anxious, but she has been making significant progress with her confidence. She continues to improve in her foster environment.

Ebony's heart longs for a home with a furry friend by her side. She thrives in the company of other dogs, their companionship bringing joy to her world. She has not had interactions with cats, but she doesn't have a prey drive so we believe she would do okay. She would likely do well with older kids who understand and respect large dogs. Smaller children seem to make her a little nervous. With a patient family, she has so much potential to be fearless, fun and absolutely FABULOUS!

She's learning her manners, gradually. She has been known to jump up at her people when excited, but she is improving. When she feels safe and secure, she isn't shy about expressing her love, gently leaning in for kisses and cuddles. She finds joy in simple pleasures, delighting in belly rubs and entertaining herself with her favorite toys. She can also be quite the snuggle bug. Her foster family says she is so SUPER SWEET!

Ebony is a model of good behavior, responding promptly when called and walking like a dream on a leash. She's also a pro at signaling when nature calls, standing patiently by the door until it's time to venture outside. Plus, she adores her crate, finding comfort within its confines, and nothing beats the joy of playing in sprinklers on a warm day. She enjoys chewing on bones. She is a Velcro dog who loves to be with her people but doesn’t exhibit any separation anxiety behaviors when apart from them. She takes treats gently and knows sit. She will make herself small so she can fit in any spot on the couch or bed to lounge with her people. She loves other dogs and plays appropriately. When she’s happy she hops around like a goofy gazelle. As if all of that is not perfection enough….she does great in the car, making an excellent copilot for trips..

Ebony is a gentle soul seeking a forever home where she can bask in the love and affection she so rightfully deserves. If you're ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories look no further!

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
