My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.

Meet Teddy! Teddy is an 8-year-old, 20 lb. American Cocker Spaniel Mix who found himself at an overcrowded shelter when his owner’s health declined. Scared and confused, Teddy was very grateful to come into our care and be given his second chance at life.

Unlike a lot of our seniors, Teddy is in amazing health and only required a quick dental. He requires no medications, has good vision and hearing, is crate trained, and is 100% potty trained. Teddy can give a small grumble if startled during nap time, so a home without small children is best. He would be happy to share his home with other dogs, but cats and other small animals go on the no no list.

Teddy likes eating a combination of wet and dry food. He will give an excited bark or two at meal time or play time but is otherwise quiet. Teddy has a medium energy level, loves to go on walks, and would enjoy a yard to run around in.

Teddy is incredibly smart and loves to learn new commands! His ideal home would be with a family that will continue to work with him. Teddy does have more energy than our typical senior dog, but he also loves his snoozes. He sleeps quietly throughout the night. Teddy loves people, loves cuddling, and will make someone the most amazing companion. Please don’t wait, apply today!
