My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Simon is graduating from our Education Project for Inmates & Canines (EPIC) and looking forward to his forever home. He has learned a variety of skills that will help him succeed in his new home, and MCR staff will share all of his training details with prospective adopters. Below is a bio courtesy of his handler.

"Meet Simon, a 2-year-old gentle giant weighing over 100 pounds! Affectionately nicknamed "Beast" due to his size, Simon is, in fact, a big-hearted puppy who harbors a comical fear of baby mice that dare to chase him in the grass. When he desires something, Simon has an endearing habit of sitting and fixating on his desired object until prompted with a cheerful "go see." For outdoor adventures, he gracefully positions himself by the door, gazing at you longingly, signaling his desire to explore.

Simon's playful spirit shines through in his love for tug-of-war, where he enthusiastically engages but sometimes struggles to let go of the toy. His playful nature extends to selecting a favorite toy from his box and eagerly presenting it, inviting you to join in the fun. Despite his imposing size, Simon is one of the sweetest and most gentle creatures you'll encounter—a true "Beast" with a heart of gold. While Simon's heart is undoubtedly filled with a desire to make friends, his exuberant size and robust playful energy might make him less suitable for children under the age of 7. Though his intentions are pure, his enthusiasm could unintentionally overwhelm younger children.

In canine social circles, Simon's interactions are marked by his amiable nature. However, due to a past canine acquaintance who's less fond of Simon, he's mastered the art of a strategic retreat reminiscent of the famous "Run, Forest, run" scene from the movie "Forest Gump." Simon excels in human interactions, forming strong bonds with people and demonstrating a friendly disposition towards fellow dogs. While Simon's enthusiasm for dog-on-dog play can sometimes get the better of him, we've been diligently working on refining his social skills. As for our feline friends, Simon hasn't had the opportunity to interact with cats. Despite his best efforts to befriend them, his lively energy may not align with the more reserved nature of our feline companions. Therefore, a home without cats would likely be the most harmonious setting for Simon, ensuring a peaceful and happy environment for all. Simon's ideal home would be one where he can bask in undivided attention, making him a perfect fit for a family without other pets. While he might need some guidance in adapting to other animals, it's crucial to note that any challenges arise from his innocent excitement rather than any malice."

Although he may initially struggle with exuberance, he's an absolute pro at chasing balls and frisbees, showcasing his athleticism and playful spirit. Simon's ideal home would be one where he can bask in undivided attention, making him a perfect fit for any family."
