BOWEN (ORSRC#2196) and BENTLEY (ORSRC#2195) are Mini Schnauzers were adopted by a loving family who now has the responsibility of caring for their elderly parents. This means the loving family can no longer provide the love and attention that these Mini brothers deserve. Because they love Bowen and Bentley so much, they have decided it is best to find them another loving adoptive home so SRC has agreed to assist by posting an Owner Placement. Both Minis are approximately 6 years old and weigh approximately 19-20 pounds. Bowen is a light-colored salt and pepper while Bentley is a dark salt and pepper. These neutered males are very bonded with one another, and it is important that they be adopted together. Both dogs did go to a doggie day care some time ago and they got along well with other dogs according to the family. They like staying at home together and are happy together so there will be no consideration of separating them. There are personal items that will come with these canines, so please check with SRC prior to purchasing items for them. They should be adopted into a home that has no other dogs so that they will receive ample attention since they are used to being given a lot of love and attention.
They have been kept on heartworm preventative and the last time they were tested they were both negative. According to the family, Bentley has had a dental cleaning and Bowen, when examined, did not require one. The family says that the dogs have been healthy with no issues to date. They are being fed Hill's diet to keep them healthy. SRC is posting them for the family so that they may be placed with another loving family who is knowledgeable about the Schnauzer breed. All vetting for the first 6 months for the dogs when they are adopted will receive a tax letter from SRC (copies of receipts provided for the total will be necessary).
The family states that both Bowen and Bentley are very friendly and love older children. They do not care for cats and should be placed in a home that does not have cats or other dogs. They have not been around other dogs so it is hard to say how they would relate to a dog that is already in the household. Like a typical Schnauzer, both dogs will chase rabbits and squirrels.
Bowen and Bentley have very little leash training, so a fenced yard will be necessary. They are said to be housebroken yet they prefer being inside as much as possible rather than outside. They are crate trained and enjoy sleeping in their crate together. Both Minis love to cuddle and really enjoy petting. They really enjoy playing with their toys and will play fetch with them – returning them when they are thrown.
Approved applicants may arrange a visit to meet Bentley and Bowen. The final decision as to who adopts these precious boys will be up to the family that is placing them for adoption. Since their vetting will need to be brought up to date, an economical donation is requested. In addition to this donation, a tax letter will be provided for all vet expenses during the first 6 months (copies of receipts required).

Submit Application
Applications must be filled out completely. They may be obtained from a download on our website or requesting by email.

Home Check
Once your app is checked, a vet ref is called-is satisfactory, photos are requested and phone interview due to COVID/home visits after virus
3.
Approve Application
All aspects being satisfactory, then you will be notified that you are approved to adopt from SRC. Your info is sent to the foster parent.
4.
Meet the Pet
Once the foster parent has reviewed your information they will answer your questions and you may have a meet & greet with the dog selected.
5.
Sign Adoption Contract
if you decide to adopt, a donation is made & adoption contract must be signed prior to being able to pick up your dog
6.
Take the Pet Home
After donation & paperwork is complete, your are responsible to pick up your dog, chip will be registered once you notify SRC you are happy.
7.
Take the Pet Home
SRC is available for questions during the adjustment period to secure a successful adoption.When you are ready SRC registers the chip free.

Once the completed application is reviewed and accepted, a vet reference and an informal home visit are conducted, both of which must be satisfactory. If your vet reference is not satisfactory, a home visit will not be conducted. (During COVID, PHOTOS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR REQUIRED -- NO HOME VISIT) Phone interview will replace Home visit. After all these procedures are completed and the reports are compiled, if everything is satisfactory you will be notified of your approval and put in touch with the foster parent of the dogs you are interested in so that you may ask questions about those dogs. If your situation fits well with the dog you select, then someone with our Core Team will help you finalize the adoption which will include a donation made in honor of the adoption of this canine. You are not purchasing a dog but helping the next incoming rescue with its medical needs and this is a tax deductible donation if you itemize.An adoption contract must also be signed and returned. Every rescued canine spends a minimum of two weeks in their foster home before being released for adoption. This evaluation allows the foster parent to give the new family a very good idea about the demeanor of their newly adopted dog, and better prepares them to understand what to expect when taking their new family companion home. Each SRC dog is vetted by an SRC approved vet. Each dog is given a thorough examination, de-wormed, given all necessary vaccinations, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and provided any other medical procedures deemed necessary by our vet ( such as dentals, ear cleaning, nail trim, etc.) The micro-chip is done for their future safety prior to being adopted from our custody and SRC remains secondary after the adoptive parents have the dog's micro-chip registered in their in their name by SRC. In this way SRC is able to help should the canine become lost or stolen and the adoptive parents are not available, SRC would be able to claim the dog and hold them until we could contact the adoptive parents. SRC is committed to the full lifetime happiness and welfare of each rescued canine that comes into our safe haven whether it is a Mini, Standard, Giant, or "Honorary" Schnauzer. As of June, 2021, Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas, Inc. will have been in operation as reputable and successful rescue organization for eighteen(18) years Our nonprofit organization has placed well at least 5000 Schnauzers and "Honorary" Schnauzers plus made a large number of referrals that resulted in saving the lives of many worthy canines. In fact, our organization has even placed about 14 Felines with courtesy listings and even one Parrot, so our worthy mission is alive and well.
