My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petite was born on June 14, 2023 and weighs about 25 pounds. Petite came to us with the name of small as she was the smallest in the litter.  Her story is a bit confusing and sad but she has the rest of her life to catch up and she will flourish in the right home, a home willing to work with her.  Joyful Rescues was made aware of an elderly couple that had an accidental (as accidental as it can be with three unaltered Eskies in a home) litter of Eskies born last June that have only lived in the basement of a home of a very elderly couple who used to show/breed Eskies.  A gentleman who had purchased an Eskie from them years ago happened to communicate with them and was told of the plight of the three remaining pups from the last litter.  He loves his dog and loves the breed and made it his mission to help the couple and the pups.  He urged the couple to bring them upstairs and allow them in the yard and they did so and then he reached out to area rescues to get the pups out of the situation.  A local rescue took one pup and a Joyful staff happened to be going into this city the following day so we took the remaining two.  The woman did love the pups and they loved her, but were very shy to the visitors.  We carried them to the car where they rode silently in a crate for 1 1/2 hours.  There was some expected car sickness and we need to emphasis here that they had never, not ever, left this home or saw anyone but the elderly lady until this time as the man couldn't get down the cellar stairs safely.  They are extremely bonded and some may feel they need to stay together.  This is not the case and they must go on to their new lives without each other to reach their full potential.  They MUST go to a home with another dog that is happy, social, and well adjusted and they MUST have a secure fence to run and play in as for the foreseeable future at least they are extreme flight risks.  They must not go to a home with hyper, noisy, little kids.   We cat-tested Petite and she had no idea what to think of it and was slightly frightened which caused her to bark at the kitty at which point we said NO! and Petite immediately stopped.  We are going to say that she will be fine in a home with kitties as long as her new human makes sure to not allow barking.  Once she understands that kitties are not scary and it makes her humans upset if she barks at them I would expect her to come to love her 4 legged friend.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00

Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
