My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Flava Flav recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say!

"Flava Flav is a good boooyyy! He is 8 years old and neutered. Him is da sweetest boy with da cutest chunka munka head you ever did see!

- Flav jumped in the car on his own and immediately laid down. He rode very well in the car either laying quietly or stood and just observed.

- Flav knows sit and is highly treat motivated. He has to be reminded to take treats gently from a flat hand. He likes some toys. The squeaky ones seem to be his favorite.

- Flava Flav is well mannered in the house. He is house trained. He does not jump up on counters and didn't want to get on the couch. He was happy laying on the doggy bed or rug. He does well on steps and is nondestructive. He does tend to drool but I would just wipe his drool pits and chin with a paper towel and it was fine. Himb can't help it.

- Flav allowed me to give him a bath in the tub. I lifted him in and he stood nicely while I scrubba dubbed.

- Flava Flav walks very well. He is recovering from a neck injury so he has to walk with a harness and no collar. He walks nicely. We had a couple of dogs barking at us and there was really no reaction. Just a quick look.

- Flav is a lover. He loves to lay or sit on your lap while you pet his huge adorable head and chest. He loves to give kisses."

2nd DDO:
"Okay, Flava Flav is just a chill and gentle teddy bear! We just had the best time together doing a casual morning hike in Gibson Park, having lunch, and then the full wash treatment at All Pets Considered. He climbed right into the car and was asleep before we even got to the park. Very relaxed on leash (see video) and just explores with his nose. He also showed me that he is:
- Non-reactive to other hikers on trails.
- Knows sit and gentle in taking treats.
- Open to head and body rubs anytime.
- Well-behaved in public places.
- Totally ready to grab a power nap.
- Pretty relaxed while being bathed.
This boy will do very well with a family looking for a relaxed older dog as a home or fieldtrip companion!"

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
