My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***NEEDS FOSTER or FUREVER HOME***
Currently in Jerome boarding kennels

Meet ~1 year old, 45 lb sweet, loving, friendly, playful AZURE that could be a mix of shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, and Kelpie. She found himself in a rural shelter and ran out of time because of too many dogs, so FFAR rescued her.

With all her climbing and bouncing in the boarding kennels, AZURE is showing her agility skills often. With a little work, she would be a good candidate for Frisbee catching. With her skills, she will also need a home with secure fencing.

AZURE loves attention (especially tummy scratches) and when given freedom on the long line, she was inclined to follow her handler around.

AZURE did great with the dogs at her old shelter and loved her yard time with them. She listened and responded well to corrections.

AZURE knows the obedience command "sit" and "paw", know recall, and walks great on a leash. She is very smart and would pick up quickly on any commands that you would want to teach her.

AZURE loves to play fetch. AZURE can get nippy when she plays, so maybe be cautious with small children. As the video shows, if you offer her a tug toy, she nips at that instead of hands/clothes.

Fun fact...She enjoys being carried!

AZURE would make a great family dog. She will need a secure yard as she has figured out how to climb fences.

Additional adoption info

We require a foster or adoption application to qualify to foster or adopt our animals. We do check your current veterinary reference and landlord approval if renting. The next step is a "meet and greet" with all family members and/or household occupants, and current pets. Upon approval, we offer a "trial adoption" period that allows adopter to make sure of a good fit for both the dog and family. Adoption is final when adoption contract (different from application) is filled out and signed, and adoption fee is paid. Our adoption fees range from $75 - $300 (puppies) currently, but are subject to revision if our veterinary costs rise.
