My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Enzo! This 2 year old terrier mix came to us from a rescue partner and is ready to find his forever home! He does great with other dogs and cats and has lots of love to give a lucky family!

The NAWS Dog Adoption Program operates as a rescue versus a shelter. We believe in matching the right dog with the appropriate family based on each specific dog and family’s needs. To achieve this, we believe in spending the appropriate amount of time with each family to allow for enough interaction time with potential adopters. This cannot be achieved if people stop by unexpectedly to meet our dogs. Please submit an application at www.NawsUS.org under the Pet Adoption tab to set up and day and time to meet with one of our adoption counselors and our potential adoptees. Thank you!

Go meet their pets

Meetings are held at the NAWS Campus in Mokena. We require an approved Dog Adoption Application on file and an appointment in order to visit our dogs. This is to allow our staff the time to appropriately discuss potential Adoptees with you.

NAWS does attend many adoption events with adoptable pets in the Frankort, Mokena, Orland Park, and Tinley Park areas. Check our Facebook Page to keep up with our upcoming events. Please note, we rarely adopt out animals directly from events as they do not allow enough time for our staff to review applications.

More about this shelter

HOW DO WE HELP PETS IN NEED?
NAWS is a 501c3 no-kill humane society with a Mission to change the face of animal welfare.

Until there are appropriate regulations at the federal and state levels to help eliminate the overpopulation and suffering of companion animals, we must find other ways to help.

NAWS is fully committed to working toward spaying and neutering all dogs and cats. We do this by providing those surgeries in our Animal Clinic at a low cost to everyone.

NAWS also rehomes over 2,500 homeless pets each year, and we pride ourselves on the fact that many of our adoptions are for senior or medical needs pets.
