Kody came to me through my stepson who was unable to care for him long term. We’ve had Kody now for four years and have realized that our home is not what he needs as an Australian shepherd. He needs more time, space and stimulation than what we can give him. Because he has no “job” he’s taken to herding and protecting me as his “flock” and that’s beginning to cause issues with our other dogs in terms of resource guarding (mostly me!).
Kody is timid when it comes to unknown noises and things he’s unsure of and is scared of thunder/fireworks. While he has overcome much timidity since being with us, he will require someone with patience and compassion while he adjusts to new surroundings.
Kody walks well on leash, but becomes car sick easily. He is eager to please and knows basic tricks such as sit, lie down and paw. He has not been around young children or cats, so I cannot comment on his behavior in these circumstances.
