My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Kiara was brought in by a community member on February 14, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Kiara, a charming canine who found her way to us as a stray. While her past remains unknown, one thing is clear: Kiara is a dog who enjoys human connection. She's a social butterfly who adores attention, happily resting her head on your lap for pets. However, Kiara can be reactive towards other dogs, so she's seeking a forever home where she can reign as the sole furry companion. Her exuberance sometimes translates into jumps of excitement, so a household without young children would be ideal; it's not super common, and she has done well with ten and twelve year old's in her foster home! Nevertheless, Kiara's zest for life is infectious -she loves to frolic and play fetch, and she's a smart girl who will sit for treats and can't wait to learn more tricks! If you're ready for a loyal friend to share your adventures, Kiara is waiting to join your family and fill your life with joy! Come ask about adopting her today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
