My story

THIS IS A COURTESY POST. THIS DOG IS NOT WITH HTR. ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE FORWARDED.

Forest is a 3 year old, 70lb Male purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback who wants to rescue a loving, active family in need of an amazing canine companion. Forest is a handsome, athletic and sweet boy who loves to lounge just as much as he loves being active.

Forest is good with other dogs and is sweet with his humans he gets to know. However, at home Forest prefers a relaxed environment, with a steady routine, and little commotion. So we believe it would be best for him to start in a home without kids. He would be okay with another dog in the home, if the dog has good listening skills and will relax when Forest is ready to chill.

While Forest is crate trained, he does like to protest a bit when first being left alone in there. With a little patience, he calms down and relaxes. He is also house trained and does a great job of letting his people know when he needs to go out.

He enjoys a good nap on the couch as well as stretching out in a sunspot outside. Forest would appreciate a big yard, but would do equally well in a home that likes to go for regular walks. He does love the great outdoors, but it doesn’t always love him back. Forest struggles with allergies and is on special food and Benadryl  to help with his itchy skin.

The ideal person for this fellow is confident with big dogs and is not a first time dog owner. Someone that is a compassionate parent, who also understands the importance of being a calm leader for this big sweetheart. He would love to take classes with his person to help build their relationship as they get to know each other.

If you would like to meet me please fill out a pre-adoption application at www.tailsrescue.org

Happy Tails Adoption Center is open on Sundays from 12-5pm. We are located at 7331 Baker St NE, Fridley. Dogs are at events based on the availability of their foster family. Please fill out a pre-adoption application so we know you are interested in meeting/adopting one of our animals.

Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

The breeds of our dogs and cats are a 'best guess.' We often do not know what mix they are and have to base it on what we think they look like, and base it on breeds often found in the area they came from. Most of our dogs who have gotten DNA tests done are 4-10 breeds mixed together. Because their breed mix is a guess we cannot guarantee a 'full grown size' of many of our younger animals.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

When adopting a pet through us, we ask that you go through a short screening process with one of our volunteers. we consider the adoption of our dogs and cats to caring forever homes to be our primary responsibility. We work very hard to ensure that we are matching our pets with the appropriate home, for both the animals and the adoptive family. All of our dogs and cats are indoor pets and are not to be left outside unattended, or running loose. You will be asked to sign a legal and binding contract upon adoption and in some cases will include Obedience Training.

Go meet their pets

We do not have a shelter, we are a network of volunteer foster homes and there are 2 ways you can meet the wonderful dogs we have who are looking for homes.

We generally have dog adoption events at the adoption center in Fridley from 12:00pm CST to 5:00pm every Sunday. However, our schedule will sometimes vary, so please check our website at www.tailsrescue.org to confirm that the dog you are interested is still available. Dogs in attendance will vary on foster family availability. You can check our facebook page prior to the event to see who may be there to meet you.

Many of our cats stay at the Richfield Petsmart and are available for showing anytime that Petsmart is open. Our wonderful friends at the Richfield Petsmart will be happy to assist you with the adoption process.

Our dogs and cats are also available for private showing. Please call us at 612-588-0188 to confirm our adoption event schedule or to arrange a private showing.

More about this rescue

Happy Tails Rescue is a non profit, 501c3, no kill small group of volunteers who are trying to contribute by finding good loving homes for the many homeless animals that are out there. Along with most rescue groups, we all believe there is an enormous problem (not only in the state of Minnesota, but in our country) with pet overpopulation. We would simply like to do our part in trying to resolve this problem.

We could use your help in many areas, including foster care, providing transport for animals, help at fundraising and adoption events and donated pet supplies and financial support. There are many other things to help with, please give us a call or send an email. We'd love to hear from you!
