My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Shay, and I am a 4-yr old Shepherd mix, around 62 lbs, and the absolute sweetest, goofiest girl! I've had an extremely hard young life, getting hit by a car in Mexico as a stray, shot with a beebie, had a tumor removed and possibly even had puppies, and yet through it all I am so trusting and just the happiest little girl you've ever meet! I am good with dogs, and love wrestling with my foster brother, but am a little wary of dogs from a distance so I have to be introduced properly and slowly. I have a limp from my car accident, but I still absolutely love going on walks.. I love just hanging out and sleeping on the couch in the sun, and I've never had any problems being left home alone. I'm also perfectly happy in my crate and kennel trained. I'm a big eater and will vocally tell you this as you make my food. I don't have any kids in my foster home, but I pretty much love all people big or small, so my foster dad thinks the odds are good I would be totally fine with kids! I'm pretty good with cats too, interested but not aggressive. I'm still working on not jumping on people, but I promise I'm trying really hard and getting better every day! I manage the stairs with my limp, and would love a house with a big yard to hang around in and sleep in the sun. My foster dad cannot put into words how sweet, silly and happy I am (despite the tough life I have had). I am going to be so excited to find my forever family and give them all my love! Feel free to come and meet me today in Denver!

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
