Koda found himself in a sticky situation after eating some things he shouldn't have that resulted in a GI obstruction. His owners unfortunately could not afford his care and reached out to RBARI for help. When we got the call, we immediately got him to our vets who performed exploratory surgery. Luckily, we found that the foreign body (a nerf dart, string, and hair ties) had already moved into his colon & ultimately passed on its own. This guy is such a goofball - always bouncing around from one thing to the next and looking for something fun to get into. He LOVES catnip, playing with his feline friends and being vocal with his favorite humans. With a slow introduction, we think he would do well with a cat-friendly dog as well. Because he has a history of eating things he finds on the ground, Koda is searching for a home that will be able to provide him with appropriate toys and keep things like string, hair ties and any other small ingestible items far out of reach.

More about this shelter
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
