My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lily came to Hooties after her family had to move into an apartment and unfortunately wasn’t able to take her with them.  She’s a sweet girl who absolutely loves to snuggle!

Age? 4-5 years old

Favorite activity? Playing with her foster sister or snuggling on the couch.

Crate Trained? She hates a crate!

Potty-training- Lily is fully housebroken

How does he do with kids? Lily loves everybody!

How does he do with other dogs? She does great with other dogs.

How does he do with cats? She could care less about the cats.

Is she Hypoallergenic?

No. She’s a husky;)

How big will she get? She’s around 55 pounds.

Training? She some basic commands.

She’s looking for a home that will love her snuggles as much as he loves giving them. A home that will give her lots of exercise and let her play with all the toys!

What's included in her adoption fee?

Her adoption fee is $150 and includes each animal being current on age appropriate vaccinations including DHPPL, bordetella, influenza, rabies, and boosters when appropriate. De-wormed for any internal parasites (round worms, hook worms, tape worms and whipworms), spayed/neutered and micro-chipped. Each of our dogs also receive flea and heartworm medication every month.

We look to place our dogs in homes where they are loved, allowed on furniture and treated like family so please do not apply if you are looking for an "outside dog" or if you have any dogs who live outside only. She’s a big girl so for the safety of all involved, we want you to consider this when applying to adopt. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you warm at night or snuggled by your side while watching TV, one who will enjoy playing in the yard, or one who’ll enjoy going and doing whatever the day finds, this may be the girl for you. Lily’s wish list consists of an inside forever home. A home with lots of toys and pet parents who understand the time commitment that a new dog requires. We’d like to see Lily have a fenced in yard to be able to roam and play, but that’s not a deal breaker.

If you think you have the perfect home for Lily and have questions, please contact us at HootiesHaven@yahoo.com We do out of state adoptions, but require you to come here and meet the pup if you are approved to adopt. Please feel free to ask for more details. We work hard to place our fosters in the very best homes. Please be aware that we have a lengthy application. Our application weeds out those who are not serious about adopting. When filling out the application, please be sure to include as much information and be as detailed as possible- your explanation could be what sets your application aside from the rest.

Please, if you are not serious about adoption, or if you are considering another dog, we respectfully ask you to please not proceed as our volunteers have other full time jobs and reading through applications and calling vet references is time consuming.

Please know, if you’re asked to come for a meet and greet, it’s just that- you are coming to meet the dog. We are the dogs advocate, so we are watching to see how the dog interacts with the family, and how the family interacts with the dog.  Our goal is to place all of our dogs in the home that’s best suited for them.

We also ask that you be mindful of the scheduled time for a meet and greet. While we understand things happen, our time is also important, as we have families and full time jobs, so please be mindful of that as well.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

An Adoption Application is completed which includes current pets and veterinarians. Veterinarians are contacted to verify that current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and heart prevention. A visit to the property to confirm fencing is made or a search on Google Earth is conducted to confirm the fencing. Any current pets in the home are introduced to the potentially adopted pet to insure they all are behaviorally compatible.

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events at our closest Petsmart location, as well as meet and greets by appointment. We also participate in festivals, parades, and other public events to bring awareness to the public about our available pets, and the importance of spaying and neutering.

More about this rescue

We are a licensed 501c3 animal rescue in NW Georgia. We serve our communities by accepting owner surrenders from owners who for whatever reason, are no longer able to care for their pets. We also assist our communities by taking in dogs from animal control facilities who might otherwise be euthanized. All pets coming into our rescue are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested. If needed we also provide heartworm treatment and recovery time.
