My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Squishy is a lovely lady whose manners are always on display! Conducting herself with the utmost grace and poise, she can often be found napping with one front paw neatly stacked on top of the other. Her little personal domain in the shelter is always so tidy as well! This doesn't mean she doesn't know how to have a good time. She loves batting around toys that make rattling sounds!

Squishy will likely mind her own business when you first meet her as she's quite independent. She's got her special spots in her room that she loves, but is super patient and would love to get to know you. It's easy to gain her trust with a friendly gesture and you can tell she trusts you and what she likes by her purr, one of the loudest we've heard! She's such a sweetie and a wonderful peaceful companion, happy to sit and sunbathe, and she'd love to meet you!

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.

Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
