My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there, I'm Brazil!
I'm about 2-3 years old, full of life, and love to make friends. My heart is filled with sweetness and I'm always ready to share it with everyone I meet once you pass my quick test. I've been told I'm quite the goofball, always ready to play and have fun.
Did you know I do a special magic trick?!
Lab-racadabra, I'm in your lap! It's my favorite spot.
There's no better place to curl up for a nap.
My skin is a little dry, but it's getting better every day, and my fur is growing back nicely. I love to give kisses, it's my way of saying thank you for your love and care. I'm a gentle soul, always kind and cuddly. I'm looking for a forever home where I can share all my love and goofiness. If you're looking for a loyal friend who'll always be by your side, then I'm your girl. Let's create a lifetime of memories together!

More about this shelter

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
