My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Angel Lights (aka Franny or Fran as we know her) is a velcro dog, so if you're looking for a bestie who follows you around literally everywhere and snuggles up to you, she's for you! She wants nothing more than to cuddle up next to you on a sofa or in a fuzzy chair, getting as much love and attention as possible. Her fosters' teenagers fight over who gets the most Franny-time. She makes little happy grunting sounds when you pet her and gives the best kisses. She will come up to you, push her body into you until she gets love - it is too cute! Did I mention that her fur is velvety soft and that she has super expressive ears? It is adorable and her coat gets her stopped on the street. Angel Lights is great on the leash and she LOVES saying hello to all dogs and people she meets. She is especially fond of big dogs, and gives them little licks on the face. I've been impressed with how responsive she is to training -- in less than a week and half, she has gone from anxious and barking around new people to barely barking at all anymore and keeps her tail waggin the whole walk! Most walks she doesn't bark at a single soul and is learning box feeding to continue boosting her confidence. She knows "sit" and "look at me" and just figured out "down" recently. At home, she mostly just sleeps on the sofa and, -- I'll admit -- she snores, which is completely endearing. She has an unusual amount of vocalization, with different sounds expressing pleasure at being given attention or a snack or letting us know the injustice of not being given more apple when everyone else in the car has one. She loves to ride in the car, just jumps in and passes out on the back seat or curiously looks out the window. At night, she used to be kept in a gated little area, and the first couple of weeks she would whine for a while before settling down, but now she seems to have accepted her 10 pm bedtime and just settles in on her bed quite happily. She has recently been upgraded to the big bed and will curl up right beside you into the tiniest, cutest ball. She sleeps through the night and is 95% potty trained (only accidents when she has a tummy ache). I'm sure that with the right amount of love (a lot) and kind family, Franny will become someone's best friend, as she has already become ours. Angel Lights has so much love to give and we will miss terribly when she finds her forever home! (follow her Instagram at @Frannythefosterdog where we have more videos and photos)

Personality & Characteristics:
My foster dog is good with: Dogs, teenagers
My foster dog is: House trained, Low shed
3 Keywords for your pup: affectionate, playful, curious
Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 3
Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Quiet
Walking Manners: Fantastic. She walks right next to me at a brisk pace, almost as if she'd been trained to heel. She pulls a little once in a while, but nothing that couldn't be helped with some training (she is just excited!). She greets all dogs with a great deal of enthusiasm. She can sometimes get a little anxious around new humans and will bark a little, but has improved so much since we had her. Redirecting her with a gentle 'Look at me" and a treat has been really effective and on most walks it doesn't happen at all. She does all her business when she needs to outside.

Appetite: She's one hungry gal and appreciates food enormously. She's very skinny so we're trying to fatten her up a bit with bigger portions and treats.

Favorite Things: Treats and snuggles!

Commands/Tricks: Sit, Look at me, down. Working on stay and come.

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
