Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sahara von Samern is a stunning, 1–2-year-old, long-haired German Shepherd. Your search is over if you are a fan of fluffy German Shepherds. Gentle, sweet and easy-going Sahara has it all – and tons of fluff to boot. This beautiful girl is super smart, eager to learn and loves all kinds of attention; now she just needs a home where comfy beds are a given. She knows some of her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She’s well behaved but young, so she would likely enjoy and benefit from some additional training. A bit shy at first in canine playgroups, Sahara prefers the calmer energy dogs. (She's not for cats.) Come see for yourself how sweet and gorgeous she is!

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
