Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Olivia von Erkner is a beautiful 6 month-old German Shepherd pup. This adorable puppy with the bright brown eyes is a sweet soul. She came to the rescue with her sisters, and since she has started to blossom. The staff at the rescue describe her as very sweet and loving. She takes treats gently and is learning some basic commands and leash manners. Around other dogs, Olivia has done well in playgroups and is comfortable being around other friendly dogs. She takes on the role of greeter when someone new joins the group but knows well enough to scuttle away when another dog starts getting pushy. Olivia has a medium energy level and is starting to look forward to going out on walks. She likes to keep moving, so Olivia is seeking an active home where she can continue to grow and learn. If you are looking for a puppy ready to follow your lead, please fill out the application for Olivia.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
