My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tilly is a sweet and social dog who is making great strides with proper management and understanding. She requires a patient and compassionate foster who is willing to continue working alongside her to help her reach her full potential. If you're looking for a furry companion with a unique charm, Tilly might be the perfect match for you!

Reason For Foster: Behavior - Foster to Adopt

Foster Care Plan: Tilly struggles with what is called Abnormal Repetitive Behavior. This is similar to compulsive behavior but limited to more specific instances and triggers. Her main repetitive behavior involves spinning, chasing her tail, and attempting to bite her tail. During these episodes, Tilly can sometimes be redirected with verbal cues. However, it's crucial not to physically intervene as this may escalate the behavior.

Tilly is in a foster home where between medications and routine she is very well managed. She would do best in a calm and quiet environment with no children. She is social with both dogs and cats; however, playing with them can cause her to become over aroused and more prone to episodes.

Other than overstimulation, Tilly is also sensitive to her back end being handled including that her tail has historically been able to trigger episodes. Being mindful of these sensitivities as well as keeping her tail trimmed short has been effective management of these two triggers.

Tilly will go home with medication and will have a behavior consultation at pickup, so you are fully prepared to care for this sweet girl.

I am available through our Foster to Adopt program. This program helps pets awaiting foster or that are under medical treatment be placed in with prospective adopters before they are made available for adoption.
