When I meet you for the first time, I growl, and I hiss. This is my way of telling the new humans that I am uncomfortable. I am looking for reassurance when I growl and hiss. I want nothing more than affection from my new people when I growl and hiss. My new foster has noticed that once I am approached the first time, and a gentle kind hand reaches out to me, I growl and hiss while I lean into their hand for reassurance. After my confidence is secured, and I decide you are my true forever, I will be your snuggle buddy until the days end!
I know it sounds sad, but, I still have memories from when I was found as a kitten. Some horrible, cruel people tied my neck to a rope and left me at a dumpster. Yeah, I know, it was bad! But, a BTKR foster, MaryAnn, kept me and nurtured me for 5 years! I know, right? 5 years!
I was presented as adoptable several times when I was with MaryAnn, however, the potential adopters were not prepared to handle my demand of reassurance! I have trust issues and am not sorry about it! I need to know that I am secure and safe with whoever approaches me! I don’t bite, and I don’t scratch. I simply vocalize my discomfort with a new person who I want to trust and love.
Once I trust and love my human, I will be their lap kitty. Their emotional support companion (because they will be mine) and I will let them brush and pet me all day! Please understand that I need regular grooming! Like all Maine Coon mixes, this is essential! My hair grows long and my undercoat needs removed so I don’t have matting!
My new foster feels I am ready for the right home. She loves me and is trying really hard to not bond with me too much, because they she wouldn’t be able to let me go! I am like the Mastiff breeds in the dog world - I need as few owners as possible. I am a very large and fluffy kitty who needs forever and forever!
As my pictures show, I am a fluffy girl with black and white markings. But, again…I am not good for a first-time house kitty unless my foster sees otherwise!
