My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.

In search of a forever lap. ~Priya
Meet Priya, the apple of your eye, or should we say, the apple of your "pie"--piebald that is! This gorgeous girl is an almost 5 year old (DOB 5/25/19) smooth red piebald dachshund, recently released from a commercial breeding facility. Priya is a sweet girl that likes everyone and loves to cuddle.

Priya is a curious, energetic girl that loves to run around and explore. She is starting to play with toys, but tends to be a bit of a hoarder (which is understandable since she never had toys before.) Priya gets along with small dogs, large dogs and cats. She can get annoyed by young energetic dogs that like to pester, but generally, she gets along with everyone. Priya will need a resident dog to help get her settled into her new home.

Due to her past in the breeding facility, Priya can be a little nervous at times. When you try to pick her up, she will flatten herself to the ground. But she's starting to learn that when you reach down to pet her, it's a good thing. She loves to cuddle and tends to attach to one person. She'll put her front paws on you to get your attention and if you sit down, she's in your lap ready for snuggle time.

Potty training is in progress. Priya understands that you potty when you're outside, but she hasn't started signaling when she needs to go outside yet. She does well if taken out every few hours with the other dogs. She will need a securely fenced yard for her safety.

Priya doesn't mind the kennel when you are home and at night, but she is very vocal about being in the kennel when you leave the house. She might do best in a home where her people aren't gone all day.
Priya is just the sweetest little cutie pie. If you can fulfill her request of a lifetime of laps and cuddles, apply today.

The suggested adoption donation for Priya is a minimum of $500 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information
