Astoria (Stori) was adopted from the Louisville Animal House shelter. She is a purebred border collie but a runt with an underbite, so the breeder abandoned her as a stray. As a herding dog, Stori needs an owner who can provide the right environment for her. Herd dogs are solitary otherwise they will be chasing other dogs, cats, or small running children, barking at them, and biting at their ankles while they chase them. She has lived with another dog, a cat, and three children, which is unsuitable for her. She would be great in a home with a single adult or couple who can walk her several times daily or supervise her in a fenced backyard. She is atypical of most border collies in that she loves a good nap and sleeps much of the day. When she is awake she loves to tug rope, puzzle-treat toys, and listens to treat-encouraged commands such as sit, stay, lay down, and come. She is very soft, silky, and snuggly, and makes a wonderful companion.
