My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

.Meet Astrid, a beautiful 1 1/2-year-old dilute Tortoiseshell cat with stunning green eyes, currently available for adoption on Adopt-a-Pet. Astrid's unique coat and captivating eyes make her a true beauty, but it's her personality that truly shines.

Astrid is a bit timid and quiet at first, taking her time to warm up to new people and environments. However, her keen and watchful nature allows her to quickly assess her surroundings, showing her wise and observant side. Once she feels comfortable, Astrid's playful and frisky demeanor emerges, showcasing her nimble movements and joyful spirit.

This lovely feline enjoys moments of playfulness, whether chasing after toys or exploring her surroundings with curiosity. She is watchful and attentive, always eager to learn and discover new things. Astrid's wise nature adds a sense of depth to her character, making her a fascinating companion to have around.

Despite her initial shyness, Astrid forms strong bonds with those who show her patience and kindness. She appreciates gentle interactions and loves to receive affection on her terms, showing her affection in return with soft purrs and gentle nudges.

If you're looking for a beautiful and wise feline companion who will bring joy and excitement to your home, consider welcoming Astrid into your life. With her stunning green eyes, frisky spirit, and keen intelligence, she's sure to become a beloved member of your family.

Additional adoption info

1) Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. The first step is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

More about this shelter

Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.

Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 200-250 cats and kittens at any given time.

The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
