My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** ARIZONA ONLY ** PHOENIX METRO AREA ** Jasper is estimated to be 2-4 years old (54 pounds, he is full grown) and he's relaxed and easy going -- although when he has free rein of his yard, boy does he love to do zoomies and run like a kid on a playground. He is a happy kid (new home must have a nicely maintained yard with grass or turf for him).

He was found fending for himself on the streets. Some very nice people found him and looked for owners for over a month but no one every claimed him. Now, it's time he finds a family of his very own so he knows what it's like to be loved unconditionally... like he will love you.

Jasper is a Heinz-57 mix. His original intake foster had a DNA test done on him. Like all dogs, he is part Chihuahua (16%), but also includes poodle, pit bull, boxer, American Eskimo, Rottweiler, and more. He is incredibly gentle, sweet, loving, housebroken, good with people, good with other dogs (big and small), and is very nicely mannered. We consider him pretty much perfect. He walks nicely on a leash and rides perfectly in the car ... and we mean perfectly.

While as near perfect as he truly is, he is a little stubborn and has a mind of his own. He knows when it's walk time, and when the leash comes out, he comes promptly to sit for the leash to be applied. He loves his walks. But, when it's time for outdoor play, he doesn't want to come back in (work in progress). Or, if he comfortable lounging in the house and someone wants him to come outside... we'll, he'll think about it, and will join you in due time, but not when you call. When it's time for bed, he won't come when you ask him..... but 15-20 minutes later, he will quietly take his place in your room for the night. It's like he's on his own relaxed itinerary.

Jasper is a little bit shy at first and while he's fun and playful, a setting with rowdy children or young children would not be good for him. Older children would probably be great... having a family or a handful of people around would probably be great for him. If you have another dog, he wouldn't mind that as he would love to have company for the times you went shopping or to dinner.

Jasper is neutered, vet checked, vaccinated, and microchipped. We can set up a meet & greet upon approved application. Please email to request one.

More about this rescue

We are a small foster-based group who helps owners who can no longer care for their dogs, or if someone passes and there is no family to take the dog, we can place the dog in a foster home, vet the dog, and then after personality assessment, will make the dog available for adoption.

Also, based on foster availability, we take in stray dogs and diligently look for owners. We have a good track record for reuniting pets with their families, but in the cases where no owner surfaces, we vet the dogs and prepare them for adoption, all while they are in a safe and loving foster home.
