My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruby is a new addition to PAWS so we are still getting to know her. She is one of three dogs that got abandoned on our property. Because of that rough transition to life, she is shy at first but will warm up to you if you're patient with her. She is not a fan of strangers approaching her so she will bark and make herself seem big and scary but she is the complete opposite of her first impression. What she really wants is someone to give her all the love and attention she deserves. All she needs is a few moments to go at her own pace. She wants to be a happy and friendly lil lady but has a hard time trusting right off the bat. Just a few sniffs and you're in! She makes friends very quickly and has accepted friendship from everyone she has met thus far.

Ruby has adjusted very well with our routines here at PAWS and is now such a happy friendly girl! She has learned that new faces mean new friends, and new cuddle buddies. She loves to see our volunteers and she loves to go on walks with anyone willing to take a little adventure with her. She is still learning her leash manners so she does pull but that is a work in progress! Her favorite thing is zoomies in our play yard with a few go, go, go's for encouragement. She must have been a linebacker in her past because she gets going super fast and will sometimes use a human body to break and slow herself down. Be prepared to brace yourself because she will tackle anyone in her way when those zoomies come out! Her other favorite thing is nap time after a good zoom session. She is a hard sleeper and is not a fan of being woken up early in the morning. We are also still learning about personal bubbles and self awareness (on size). She is still learning not to jump up on people to greet and no one told her she's not a lap dog size so she might jump into your lap if you let her! Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org

Additional adoption info

Spay/neuter + rabies is included in our adoption fee, but may not be completed by time of adoption due to our limited access to veterinary appointments. We have local partners listed in your adoption contract that you can schedule an appointment with (and are paid by us) or we will reimburse for up to $100 for non-network veterinarians.

Go meet their pets

Our public hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11 am - 4pm. Dog meets may be also scheduled on Sunday and Monday by appointment only.
No appointment is needed to meet our cats during public hours.
Please note that appointments are highly recommended for dog meets due to limited staff availability, but we do accommodate walk-in visits whenever possible. Additionally, many of our dogs may be located off-site in foster homes and an appointment will be required to meet those pets. We do require a completed application prior to meeting pets in foster homes to preserve the valuable time of our foster families.

More about this shelter

PAWS finds new families for stray dogs and cats as well as owner surrendered pets. We also accept animals brought to us by concerned citizens and local animal control agencies and do our best to find them suitable homes. Our mission is to find homes and offer direct care for as many of these loveable pets as possible. PAWS attempts to prevent the birth of unwanted animals through education and spay/neuter programs.

PAWS of Grays Harbor is a strictly non-profit organization and we survive because of donations from our community. All of the animals we adopt out are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for fleas. Sometimes, the animals we rescue require additional veterinary care. Without your donations, none of this would be possible. Thank you for your support, we couldn’t do it without you.
